History and Geography

The National Curriculum for History and Geography outlines what children need to know by the end of Key Stage 1 and 2.  At St Vincent's we have developed a programme of learning which is personalised to our school and children, to map how this knowledge is distributed across each year group within a Key Stage.  From this, we have developed topics which enable children to review, reinforce and revisit learning in different ways in order to gain depth of knowledge and to fulfil our curriculum intent.  These topics are supported by resources published by the Historical Association and Geographical Association.

The historical and geographical skills required for children to develop this deep knowledge have also been mapped to show how children will grow as historians and geographers as they move through the school.

Further information can be found on your child's class page to show how the knowledge and skills outlined above will be taught throughout the year.
